Food
State
The Health Industry's Best Kept Secret
In nature
nothing works in isolation. The body understands food, not
chemicals. That is the principle that embodies the ethos of
Nature's Own and the 'Food State' range of vitamin and mineral
supplements.
Nature's
Own was founded in 1980 by individuals whose dream was to
offer supplements made to the highest standards. In their
search for quality and efficacy their path led them to a scientist
in the USA who had spent many years perfecting an innovative
process. It was a method of growing nutrients back into the
food concentrates where one might normally expect to find
them in nature. The scientist, Andy Szalay, called this the
'Food State' process. The origins of the 'Food State' story
go back many years.
From the
time that a growing number of scientists realised that foods
contained components that were valuable for health, there
has been the desire to break the composition of food down
so that the active ingredient can be isolated. This action,
in medical circles, is named the mechanistic approach.
The breakthroughs
in the discovery of vitamins began with the dawn of the 20th
century when scientists such as Kasimir Funk and Albert Szent-Gyorgi
discovered and isolated vitamins from food. Funk, Gyorgi,
and others noted that this isolated nutrient was not nearly
as effective in its action as when it was contained within
the whole food concentrates they had used previously.
However,
the pharmaceutical companies, sensing the market potential
of these products, immediately set about selling these and
other chemical vitamins. Since that time £million marketing
campaigns have erroneously convinced the public that the chemical
industry have been able to produce nutrients as good as those
in food. The word ënaturalí is frequently used
too, although in law ënaturalí is a meaningless
term. And that is how we understand and accept without question
our vitamins and minerals today. The sad truth is of course
that our body struggles to understand these isolates.
"If
one can isolate and extract a nutrient from food, could one
find that mechanism to grow it back in?" Thus, many years
ago, began Andy Szalay's 20-year search to find a way of replicating
Mother Nature. Andy did succeed, and, after successfully growing
ascorbic acid back into food, he found the same mehtod held
good for other nutrients. He called this the 'Food State'
principle. On average he found that nutrients in this form
to be 3 times better absorbed and retained for use by the
body. He set up a small plant in New Jersey which is when
the two forward thinking individuals who founded Nature's
Own beat a path to his door.
Since
that time over 22 years of scientific studies involving some
70 plus peer reviewed studies all attest to the superiority
of 'Food State'over and above the chemically formulated counterparts.
'Food State' are better absorbed, longer retained, and better
utilised.
The products
are contained in an organic, non-toxic base, without the addition
of colourings, flavourings, sugars, or preservatives.
Nature's
Own is the only dietary supplement company in the UK that
sets such high standards for its formulations.
