Good,
honest, healthy food for body and soul
We have
all been guilty of reading information that could change our
health and well-being if we follow certain regimes, be it
diet, supplements, exercise and so on. And then with a rush
of enthusiasm and resolve we go barging into an idealistic
'lifestyle' that promises to change everything - but maintaining
that ideal is often another matter.
A common
major factor can sometimes be lack of time or energy due to
the busy lifestyles we tend to lead. But the most frustrating
reason can be that we simply do not have access to good shops,
or supermarkets that can offer us a comprehensive range of
organic foods, supplements, health foods and other ingredients
which could help accelerate this way of life. So we end up
back in one of the major supermarkets, lured by the promise
of value for money and convenience, when in our hearts we
know that this action will not address our resolve.
How refreshing
then, to find Earth Foods in Bournemouth that can not only
service this way of life by offering a full range of good
quality organic, natural wholefoods, supplements and much
more, but also is run by a man with honest values and a conscience.
(So much so that he has, on occasion, had independent lab
tests carried out on certain supplements to confirm the contents).
Earth
Foods proprietor Carl Harman has an extraordinary past, the
repercussions of which eventually lead to him setting up this
venture. Having seen poverty first hand in India back in the
1960's, Carl was moved to later act on his feelings of frustration
and disgust at the way the 1st world was apparently not about
to help any of the suffering in the 3rd world. The final straw
being when feeding cattle on a New Forest farm and he read
with interest that the bag of animal feed had come all the
way from India, not 150 miles from an Indian village where
he had seen people dying of hunger, thirst, disease and poverty.
The feed contained corn, wheat, barley, rye, to name but a
few nutritious ingredients - certainly ingredients that would
feed a family and stave of such suffering.
Carls
venture was not an overnight success, although at one point
he did have six outlets that he 'gave away' to interested
parties and friends. He has had his fair share of struggling
to maintain his business, but with a work ethic that would
put most of us to shame. To this day, it is Carl's intention
to sell the now very successful shop and spend the money on
a humanitarian project 'in some part of this lonely planet'.
A visit
to Earth Foods is truly recommended, not only for purchasing
quality foods, but also for the warm, friendly welcome that
will greet you. Carl has a reputation for knowing most of
his customers by name - not an experience you would enjoy
at certain other, bigger food retail outlets!
